Our boys are back from their sojourn in the south, trailing glory. Their journey began the Sunday December 2 and they didn’t get home to their kennels until December 11. What an adventure for them, and for us – Terry, Nicole, and Polly.
Three Clubs competed (Aiken, Wentworth, GMH) at Belle Meade in Georgia with fourteen hounds hunting (and being judged) for two days.
The judging and scoring is quite complex. Judges view the hounds (with big numbers painted on them) at all stages of the hunt, from finding the scent to running the line in full cry. The scores are combined in a complicated fashion to calculate the final number.
There are separate scores for each of the two days, but they don’t just add simply. For example, endurance counts higher on the second daythan the first. Here is the combined score for both days.
A most respectable showing for all the boys, but Earnest was a real standout.
They really worked hard and were very tired at the conclusion of the second day.
It was a lot of fun to see our hounds cheek-by-jowl with the others and come up winners!
