The Show was held this year on Cinco de Mayo (May 5 for the Spanish-challenged) in Medfield, Massachusetts, and hosted again by Norfolk Hunt.
There were a very large number of entries and all the New England hunts were represented. Green Mountain, North Country, Old North Bridge, Tanheath, Norfolk, Myopia, and Wentworth were all there in force
Overall honors of Best in Show went to Wentworth Archer, but Green Mountain made a big splash.
First of all, great thanks to Meghan and Emma who walked and washed (with Jessica Saltus) the hounds on Saturday.
After a very early start, the masters, huntsmen and hounds arrived in Medfield, MA at 9:30 AM.
Our hounds did not appear until after lunch, but it was worth the wait. Roxy, Elspeth, Ella and Ryan showed in the Unentered Crossbreed Bitches class (of 9) and Ryan won with Terry handling!
Next, Beauty (Ryan’s mother) won the Brood Bitch class with Meghan.
Emma was second in the Junior Handler class with Blazer (behind a stellar young man who was the only one to show his hound off leash).
Terry and Ryan then continued their success in the Best of Breed class (outstanding win!), and followed up with Reserve in the Best of Show. An amazing day for our puppy and her handler.
The day was ended with a final bang as Blazer and Meghan won (as expected) the Retired class, and finally with an unexpected win for Terry’s Green Mountain Gringo Mexican deviled eggs as “Best Appetizer.”
Emma and “B.” Blazer was on the platform with his brother Boycott
